The foam insulation was blown into the trusses last week. Then the drywall went up.
The rooms and spaces are really taking shape. We're so glad we dropped the wall between the mud room and the passageway - it really lets the light through. The pony wall in the passageway also opens up the space nicely. Nice geometry.
East wall of the bedroom. Picture this room with a deep blue ceiling and blue walls.
The closet in the purple bedroom is no longer a closet (nor is the room a bedroom now). We're planning on filling the cove with filing cabinets.
We found a company in California that replicates tiles from the 50s, so we'll be able to recreate the original window surround. The window opening will contain a mirror.
Shopping Spree
We finally purchased the fixtures for the kitchen sink online. After researching for months and spending too much time at plumbing supply stores, I settled on T&S Brass for the Pre-rinse and faucet. For a commercial sink, we might as well get the heavy-duty equipment.
For the vanity sink (near the shower) we purchased this Price Pfister single-hole faucet in brushed nickel. Lowes carries it, but we purchased it online from Bed Bath & Beyond and used a 20% off coupon.
Over the dining room table we had planned to pick up this adjustable chandelier, but after bringing it home (and having another look at where it would be placed in the room), we decided that the round shape was wrong for the space, and well, it was just too fancy for us. Together with the price ($320, plus $100 for the dimmer), it was enough to make us return it and try something more fitting, and definitely more fun. The expensive fixture is going back to the store:
We really would like to have the light(s) to be adjustable, so we're going to pick up three heavy-duty retractable shop cords ($30 at Lowes)...
...and connect them to some inexpensive but classy glass pendants from Ikea ($16.99 each). The total cost will be less than half of the fancy chandelier, and more suited to out tastes anyway. Pictures of the prototype to follow.
