We went to annual AIA house tour last weekend - a dangerous move, considering that we'd be exposed to some new ideas while in the middle of our project.
Fortunately, the change it inspired was not too costly, as it only involved taking out the top 16 inches or so of the wall between the passageway (where the computer desk will go) and the mud room. We wanted to bring a little more light into the kitchen/dining room, and cutting the height of the wall was easier than popping windows into it, now or later. The ceiling will be continuous between the spaces - no header necessary.
The little widow was finally installed in the front gable. It's not for light as much as ventilation, but it was nice to see the blue sky.
The pocket door frames are in - all five of them. This one opens from the kitchen to the pantry.
The siding is finally done. I think painting it terra cotta red (San Antonio Public Library Red - our original house color) will help give it more character. We're already thinking about putting some more windows on the south wall, but that's another day. Or year.
One solitary window (in the shower) breaks through the metal siding. I like the way they framed it.
Pretty cool brass connector at the spigot. I hadn't seen these before. Made in Austin!
