Begin Demolition

The house is nearly empty now, and the preliminary demolition has begun. We can't take out any exterior walls without a permit (we should have that permit by next week), but we can strip the drywall and gut the interior. By doing so, we're finding out just how poorly-built the 1990s (before we bought it) addition was. The foundation is poured on top of bricks. It does not seem to be reinforced, and it has pulled away from the original house to the point that we can see light through the wall joints. No scary animals found, but dozens of salamander eggshells are testament that our home has been home to many.

This weekend we may cut the kitchen sink away.

UPDATE: I'm not going to bother with the sink this weekend. Also I took a break ripping out the insulation to find out what "rock wool" is. (It's not asbestos).
